:1 예수께서 무리를 보시고 산에 올라가 앉으시자 제자들이 곁으로 다가왔다.
:2 예수께서는 비로소 입을 열어 이렇게 가르치셨다.
:3 행복하여라! 마음이 가난한 사람, 하늘 나라가 그들의 것이다.
:4 행복하여라! 슬퍼하는 사람, 그들은 위로를 받을 것이다.
:5 행복하여라! 온유한 사람, 그들은 땅을 차지할 것이다. .
:6 행복하여라! 옳은 일에 주리고 목마른 사람, 그들은 만족할 것이다.
:7 행복하여라! 자비를 베푸는 사람은 행복하다. 그들은 자비를 입을 것이다.
:8 행복하여라! 마음이 깨끗한 사람, 그들은 하느님을 뵙게 될 것이다.
:9 행복하여라! 평화를 위하여 일하는 사람, 그들은 하느님의 아들이 될 것이다.
:10 행복하여라! 옳은 일을 하다가 박해를 받는 사람,. 하늘 나라가 그들의 것이다.
:11 나 때문에 모욕을 당하고 박해를 받으며 터무니없는 말로 갖은 비난을 다 받게 되면 너희는 행복하다.
:12 기뻐하고 즐거워하여라. 너희가 받을 큰 상이 하늘에 마련되어 있다.
옛 예언자들도 너희에 앞서 같은 박해를 받았다.
:1 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,
:2 and he began to teach them, saying:
:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
:11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
:12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
